Located at the entrance between ER and the main lobby.
We want you to feel comfortable and cared for throughout your stay, so at each nursing shift change—around 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.—your nurse will introduce your new nurse to you. The team will talk about your progress, medicine and tests scheduled for the day, and you can also ask questions.

Monday through Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Dinner: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (M-F)
Your room is connected to the nursing station via an intercom system. To call for your nurse, press the NURSE call button located on the bed handrail. If you have questions on how to use the call button, ask a staff member to show you. Ask for assistance. Call, don’t fall.
Do not use electric hair dryers, curling irons, razors, heating pads, portable heaters, DVD players, fans, CPAP machines, computers or other electric devices.
We conduct fire drills from time to time. If you hear an alarm, stay where you are. In an actual emergency, hospital staff will tell you what to do.
Flowers are delivered to patient rooms by individual florists. Please note that flowers are not allowed in Intensive Care Units.

Proceeds are donated back to the hospital to assist the needs of patients. Cash, check and credit cards are accepted.
A nurse will visit you every hour during the day and every two hours at night to check on your comfort, help you change positions in bed, assist with trips to the bathroom, and ensure you can reach your phone, call light and personal items easily.
Our goal is that your room and bathroom are always kept clean. Your room should be cleaned two times a day. If you need any cleaning, call ext. 2305.
A Language Line service is available, free of charge. Please call a nurse.
If you have misplaced an item, please call Security at ext. 1179.
All medicines you take in the hospital need to be prescribed, filled and given to you by hospital staff. Tell your doctor about any medicines you regularly take. If you have any prescription or over-the-counter medicines with you in the hospital, please have a loved one take them home for you. Then, if you still need them, hospital staff will give them to you.
Complimentary parking is available adjacent to the hospital, and limited charging stations are available for electric vehicles.
Personal care items such as contact lenses, eyeglasses, hearing aids and dentures can be stored in your bedside stand. Please do not put them on your bed or food tray so they aren’t lost or damaged. If you brought valuables like jewelry or cash, give them to a loved one to watch over. You may also ask your nurse about placing valuables in the hospital safe. Uvalde Memorial Hospital cannot be responsible for replacing personal belongings.
We ask visitors not to use patient restrooms for everyone’s health and safety. Public restrooms are located throughout the hospital. Ask hospital staff to direct you to the nearest one.
Smoking and the use of any tobacco products, including e-cigarettes or vaporizers, are not permitted anywhere in the hospital or on hospital grounds.
All patient rooms have phones. To place a call within the hospital, see the Phone Directory. To place an outside call, dial 9, then the area code and phone number. Long-distance calling is not available.
Each patient room has a television. Please be considerate of others by keeping the volume down and turning off your TV at bedtime. TVs are controlled by the bedside pillow speaker or side rail controls. Closed captioning is available for the hearing impaired. Ask a staff member if you have any questions about using your TV. The TV guide is available on Channel 3.
Located in the lobby between the two entrances. You can find beverages and snacks 24 hours a day.
For everyone’s health and safety, we support an environment of respect between patients, visitors and staff. This hospital does not tolerate physical or verbal abuse. Anyone who displays this behavior may be removed from the hospital.
